The Happy Foodie

Modern life is hectic. Many of us have stressful jobs, leaving barely enough time to catch a breath. And so, meals (especially lunch breaks) can become a moment to dedicate to oneself, to one’s physical and mental well-being. Buddha bowls are an example of this contemporary way of indulging in food.

Despite being an “omnivore” and a lover of good steaks, out of personal curiosity and for health reasons, I often choose to include vegetarian dishes in my menus. Creating recipes that aim to make reducing meat consumption less burdensome is one of the good habits I try to maintain, whenever and wherever possible.

Because of this reason, periodically I treat myself to a cookbook that delves into the themes of plant-based nutrition, combating food waste, and the sustainability of raw materials. I see that more and more people are seeking healthy and sustainable ideas that are not demeaning to taste, smell, and sight. And I understand them. The food we eat influences mood, satisfaction, and productivity.

“Buddha Bowls” is one of the first cookbooks to become part of the vegetarian section of my collection, a section that I can’t wait to expand for the benefit of many readers of this site.

Photogenic, colorful, Instagrammable: the “Buddha Bowls” that conquer

“Buddha Bowls” is an easily readable book that features recipes suitable for everyday life… yet still healthy and trendy. It does so with simplicity and straightforward language, accompanied by food photography that captures attention. The introductory section succinctly explains the philosophy behind this dietary style, the common characteristics of the dishes presented in the book. Then it lists and presents one recipe per page, divided into bowls for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Additionally, there are bowls for replenishing energy, suitable for take-away meals, and perfect for evenings with friends.

It’s evident that the publication doesn’t stem from the restaurant world but from the realm of communication. The style resembles social media, marketing, advertising. It talks about food that is trendy, plant-based in its most fashionable sense. However, it’s still worth browsing through because it reveals a lot about the tastes and ingredients that many people enjoy today – where the “health-conscious” aspect is subject to a certain level of attention.
